Ora Ethredge was born in Schell City, Vernon County, MO, in October 1885, not long before the extended Ethredge/Ethridge family emigrated to Oregon. They all left Missouri in their covered wagons and traveled the Oregon Trail in 1887, probably in the springtime. Only the sister, Susannah Long, ended up staying there permanently, as within a few years, most of the brothers had returned to Missouri. It appears, however, that Ora's father, Greenberry, moved his family into Washington Territory prior to Nov. 1889, when it became a state. Prior to 1900, though, he was joined by his brother, Ransom.
1900 Census, Mountain Precinct, Columbia, WA:

Ora E., son, born Oct 1885, age 15, born in MO, father-MO, mother-IN
While not found in the 1910 census, Ora was in the area, as he married Anna Metzner in Spokane on Dec. 12th. She was living in Ritzville and he was living in Downs. In October 1912, he and Anna were in Adams County, as the grave of their infant baby is there in the Ritzville Cemetery. By 1914, they were living in Mohler, Lincoln Co. and were still there when Ora was registered for the WWI Draft. By 1920, however, the family had moved to Pullman, Whitman Co., and were enumerated living with Ora's parents:
