Stanley Carl Fauver
Birth: Oct. 16, 1918
Wauseon
Fulton County
Ohio, USA
Death: Oct. 3, 2011
Wauseon

Stanley Carl Fauver's grandparents, Daniel and Louisa Clingaman, built a house north of Wauseon, Fulton, Ohio in 1902. His mother, Jessie Lodema Clingaman, and father, Carl Beckham Fauver, lived with Daniel and Louisa after they got married in 1907. Stanley, their son, was born in the house in 1918 and lived there until about five months before his death in October, 2011. I was raised in the same house. It is Victorian with lots of rooms.
I learned of a stunt that my Dad and his cousin Frank pulled when they were younger. They were typical boys, checking out everything at Frank's home which was across the road from my Dad's home. Somewhere they found a catfish. Naturally they took the fish home and... they put it in the horse's watering trough. Guess it scared the horses. Frank's Dad told them to take it back where they found it. Since my dad was over three years older, he may have gotten in trouble for that one. Strange how one never hears these stories until a person has died.
Stanley was a farmer like his father and grandfathers. He was a hard worker and expected my brother and I to work hard as well. I enjoyed driving tractor.
He was a radio ham most of his adult life. Long before modern technology, he spoke to people in Russia, France and many other countries. His call number was W8ZHQ. When I was young, he took me to watch his radio ham buddies flying remote control planes. It was amusing to see them crash and have to replace the broken propellers. Dad built a remote control boat and named it "Judy Kay" after moi. Dad has a shop in the basement where he would work with wood and other things. He had a train set in the basement too.
Dad taught me how to drive. We practiced in a field and at the county fairgrounds which is about a quarter of a mile away. That was fun.
For many years, my parents spent their winters in Florida. First 20 plus years in Sebring and, finally, in Naples.
