| Birth: | Oct. 4, 1894 Philadelphia Philadelphia County Pennsylvania, USA | | Death: | Dec. 7, 1941 Hawaii, USA |  World War II Congressional Medal of Honor recipient. During the December 7, 1941 Japanese air attack on Pearl Harbor, he was serving on board the USS Nevada. In the midst of the attack, he led the ship's line handling detail in casting off from the quays alongside Ford Island so the Nevada could get underway. While attempting to drop anchor at the end of the battleship's brief sortie he was blown overboard and killed by enemy bombs. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
