| Birth: | Aug. 20, 1833 | | Death: | Jan. 3, 1919 |  Indian Mutiny Victoria Cross Medal Recipient. He served as a Second Lieutenant in the Bengal Horse Artillery, Indian Army. On July 9, 1857, at the siege of Delhi, India, his position was attacked by enemy cavalry. Single handedly, he charged the head of the enemy's column and fought fiercely, on foot after he and his horse had been ridden down. For gallantry in the face of the enemy, he was awarded the Victoria Cross Medal and later the rank of Lieutenant General. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
