Willie Minor, formerly of Exton

Willie Minor, formerly of Exton, died at 89, at the Chester Valley Nursing Center in Malvern. From 1994 until 2009, Willie lived with Rose Sarnor and her family in Coatesville, where he enjoyed the camaraderie of new and old friends at the Coatesville Area Senior Center. Before moving to Coatesville, Willie lived in Exton at the Guernsey Cow restaurant where he was employed and cared for by Larry and Gladys Polite, now deceased, and their family.

From the 1940's through the early 1990's, Willie could have been dubbed Exton Ambassador. Frequenting locations that are now just memories for Exton long-timers, Willie welcomed and conversed with folks at The Guernsey Cow, Exton Drive-In Theater, Downingtown Farmers Market and Felix's Farm Market.

His smile and laughter lightened the hearts of all who knew and loved him. A most beloved Exton resident, he will be remembered for his bicycle adorned with horns, lights, fenders, racks, flags and baskets heavily laden with old newspapers and many spools of string. Most Saturday's, Willie rode his bike through Marchwood and Whitford Hills where children gathered to greet him, admire his bike, and hoped to hear the toot of his bike horn.

Willie is survived by Polite family members, Wanda McGlinchey-Ryan, Exton, Saundra Schier, Audubon, Mary Lisa Cole, Downingtown, Joseph Puliti, Warminster and their families. Also surviving are Rose Sarnor, Coatesville and her family.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, October 5, at the DeBaptiste Funeral Homes, Inc., 25 S. Worthington Street, West Chester. Friends may greet his family from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. prior to the service. All who cared about Willie, including former employers and customers of The Guernsey Cow, are welcomed to attend the memorial service and share stories of their friendship with Willie.

Interment will be privately held at Chestnut Grove Annex, West Chester.
