Military Service:
July 16, 1861: Enlisted as a Private in the Missouri Union Army in Springfield, Mo., to Capt. Stone's Cavalry Company, for the Ozark County, Missouri Home Guard, Company A. Duty in Ozark and adjacent counties, and scouting on State Road from Springfield, Mo., to Jacksonport, Ark., till October. Mustered out October 1861.

October 18, 1861: Enlisted as a Private in the Missouri Union Company F, Missouri Phelps' Infantry Regiment.
at Rolla, Mo., & trained till February 1862. Served unattached, Army of Southwest Missouri, to February 1862. Transferred to 2nd Brigade, 4th Division, Army of Southwest Missouri, to May 1862.

August 9, 1862, Enlisted as a Sergeant in the 73rd Regiment Enrolled Missouri Militia, Company G, under Capt. Sallee at Flag Springs, Missouri. Mustered out March 22, 1863, at Lawrence Mill in Douglas County, Missouri.

July 20, 1863: Enlisted as a Private in the 6th Regiment Provisional Enrolled Missouri Militia, Company B, under Major Hornbrook. July 31, 1864, rank as Sergeant. Mustered out March 12, 1864

Nov 21, 1864: Enlisted as a 2nd Lieutenant in the 146 Missouri Infantry. Mustered out May 24, 1865.

Service:
Fought in Curtis' Campaign against Price in Missouri and Arkansas in February and March. Actions at Sugar Creek and Bentonville February 17. Battles of Pea Ridge, Ark., March 6-8. Mountain Grove March 9. Mustered out May 13, 1862. Lost 2 Officers and 23 Enlisted men killed and 3 Officers and 91 Enlisted men by disease. Total 119.

1890 Veterans Schedules: Second Lieutenant Missouri Inf., Company J., Regiment 46 :21 Nov. 1864 - 24 May 1865. Disability due to the Civil War: Injury to the Spine.
