ARLINGTON - Lola Mae Berger, 85, a retired home decorator, passed away at her daughter's home in Arlington on Thursday, May 28, 1998.
Graveside service: 2 p.m. Monday in Springtown Cemetery in Springtown. The Rev. Robert Owens will officiate. Visitation: Mrs. Berger will be in state Friday through Sunday at Arlington Funeral Home; the family will be present 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday.
Lola Mae Berger was born Aug. 19, 1912, on her beloved family farm in Springtown. Her parents were Burnie and Zillah Kinnaird. She and her family moved to Fort Worth in 1921. She graduated from North Side High School in 1931. She owned and operated River Oaks Slipcover Shop for 30 years. After retirement, she spent her time volunteering at the North Side Senior Citizens Center and served on the Senior North Side City Council. She also served as secretary of Emanuel Baptist Church. During her retirement, she also enjoyed traveling. In 1994, she moved to Arlington. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Arlington.
She was preceded in death by her precious granddaughter, Karen L. Grote, and her caring brother, Homer L. Kinnaird.
Survivors: Daughter and son-in-law, Regina and Ernest Grote of Arlington; granddaughter and her husband, Cheryl and Rick Kinney of Greenville; sister-in-law, Dorothy Kinnaird of Fort Worth; two nieces; and two nephews.
