Bonnie "June" Branson, nee Evans of Keysville, Missouri was born February 10, 1923 in Keysville, Missouri to George W. Evans and Julia (Hilgers) Evans and passed away Saturday, July 10, 2010 at her home at the age of 87 years.
She moved to Plainville, Kansas in her early childhood where she worked at age 14 cooking and baking pies. Later she moved to Ft. Riley, Kansas and worked as a cook at the military base.
She returned to Keysville in June of 1943 where she was united in marriage to Dyral Franklin Branson and to this union two children were born.
She and Dyral operated the Keysville Store and the Branson Dairy Farm. After the sale of the dairy farm in the 1950's they mainly raised beef cattle. In 1969 Dyral passed away, but she continued to run the farm. Later she moved to St. James, Missouri where she went to work at Phelps County Hospital in Rolla and later retired from there.
June was a past member of the Presbyterian Church at Keysville and later became a member of the Steelville Presbyterian Church. She was a 50-year member of the Easter Star in Steelville and had been Past Matron two different times.
She was known for her many talents, which consisted of great cooking, sewing, knitting, tatting, cross-stitching and painting pictures. In her spare time, she enjoyed fishing and being with family.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Julia Evans; her husband, Dyral; sisters, Isolene Carmie Wickham and husband Alvin and Rhea Ann Raymond and husband John; sisters-in-law, Rosemary Evans and Lillian Branson; and brothers-in-law, Sterling Branson and Dave Zook.
She is survived by her daughter, Lynn Frazier of Keysville, Missouri; son, Larry Branson and wife Linda of Keysville, Missouri; two brothers, George Evans of Harrah, Oklahoma and Riley Veatch of Red Bluff, California; four sisters, Georgia Zook of Sweet Home, Oregon, Oleta Miers of Red Bluff, California, Regina Pursell of Bishop, California and Dixie Brizendine of Tipton, Missouri; five grandchildren, Dawn Rector and husband Jeff of Van Buren, Missouri, Darryl Branson and wife Carrie of Scotsdale, Missouri, Darren Frazier of Steelville, Missouri, Angela Branson of DeKalb, Illinois and Brandy Branson of Fayette, Missouri; four great grandchildren, Cody Rector, Shawna Rector and Shala Rector all of Van Buren, Missouri and Luke Branson of Scotsdale, Missouri; other relatives and friends.
Visitation was from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri.
Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home in Steelville, Missouri with Rev. Jerry Beers officiating. Special music of "Wind beneath My Wings," "How Great Thou Art" and "Going Home" was sung and played by Rev. Jerry Beers.
Committal prayer and burial were in the Keysville Cemetery. "Amazing Grace" was played by Rob Bowness on bagpipes.
Casket bearers were Cody Rector, Jon Adams, Allen Swyers, Darren Frazier, Darryl Branson and Jack Edgar.
Arrangements under the direction of the Britton-Bennett Funeral Home of Steelville, Missouri.
