Funeral Apostle G. W. Flowers

There was a large attendance on Friday afternoon at the funeral of Apostle George Washington Flowers, a resident of Sycamore for 14 years, a leader of the colored people of this vicinity, and founder of the denomination known as Israel of God, White Horse Army Church. He had been ill and failing for some six months. Services were held at the White Horse Army Church on North Avenue at 2 o'clock. A number of preachers and others from out of town were present. The interment was in Elmwood cemetery where services were also held. Apostle Flowers was born in Georgia, Feb. 22, 1854. He leaves a widow and daughter Mrs. Phoebe Baker of Chicago.
