Hood died yesterday in a local hospital. He was under treatment for a stroke suffered Thursday.
Hood served 20 years in the navy, including World War I and WWII and 15 years in the reserve. He was a member of Fresno Unit 249 of the Fleet Reserve Association.
He was an engineer for the Jet Propulsion Laboratories in Los Angeles before coming to Fresno in 1958.
His local affiliations included the Raisina Chapter No. 89 Order of Eastern Star; the Holmes Leisure Club, the Fresno Chapter of the American Association of Retired Persons and the Easterby church where he was an elder. He had received his 50 year pin from a Masonic Lodge in Boston, Mass.
Surviving him are his widow, Marian; a son, David W. Hood of Clovis; a daughter Rowena E. Hood of Washington, DC; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Fern Stimel of Richmond, Contra Costa County, and two grandsons.
The Lisle Funeral Home has charge of the services.
