Born March 11, 1927, in Greene County to Henry Gerhardt and Mary Elizabeth Brinker Raker, he married M. Janean Mackelden on Dec. 12, 1964, in Jerseyville. She survives.
Also surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Brad (Mary E.) Loesche of Carol Stream, Theresa J. Raker of Bellows Falls, Vt., Mrs. Mitch (Stephanie Ann) Probasco of Marquette Heights, Mrs. David (Tina) Noke of Indianapolis and Mrs. James (Robin J.) Arnold of Peoria; five sons, Robert A. Raker of Marquette Heights, Sgt. 1st Class Anthony T. "Tony" Raker of Fort Campbell, Ky., Sean H. Raker of Peoria, and Tim Berger and Terry F. Hazelman, both of Pekin; one sister, Jennie M. Lee of Pekin; and one brother, Donald Raker of Baton Rouge, La.
A Caterpillar Inc. employee for 32 years, he retired as a pipefitter/millwright in the Mapleton foundry, retiring in November 1990. He was a Korean War Army veteran. He was a life member of Roy L. King Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1232 and Pekin AMVETS Post 235 in Pekin, where he was a past commander and a past Division III Commander. He also held many of the state and local offices. His last office was finance office of the Pekin Post.
Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin, where military rites will be accorded by his VFW Post.
