Stephen Christopher Ackley, 34, of Georgetown TX, passed away on April 19, 2009. Stephen was born July 18, 1974, in Oxnard CA to Charles Raymond and Karen May Hempel Ackley. He was an outstanding young Christian man, well known and respected for his strong family and personal values, love for his chosen career as an attorney, and passion for flying. He was an instrument-rated pilot and enjoyed owning and operating his Mooney. He was also an avid golfer and fisherman.

Steve attended Southern Methodist University where he achieved two Bachelor's degrees in only 3 years, in Political Science and Finance. He went on to earn his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Baylor University Law School. It was during his time at Baylor that he met and married Jean Lee Egbert, his beloved wife of 12 years. Steve most recently practiced law for Williamson County as the Chief of Civil Litigation. He was known for his dedication and passion for the law and quickly became well respected in the community. He was very proud of the fact that he had been admitted to practice and stand before the United States Supreme Court.

Steve was preceded in death by his beloved grandfather, Buck Grote, who passed away March 13, 2009. His grandfather greatly influenced Steve's strong Christian morals and love for flying.

Steve leaves behind his devoted wife Lee Ackley; their young son Luke William Ackley; father Charles Ackley; mother Karen Ackley; grandmother Carolyn Grote; brother John Charles Ackley; uncle John Charles Ackley and wife Sandy; aunts Carole Busby and Linda Wargin; in-laws Kathy and Rick Egbert; sister-in-law Sara Johnson and husband Jan; and many other loving family members and friends.
