Harry B. Corey, 76, of Troy RD 3, died Sunday, Jan. 25, 1976 at the Troy Community Hospital. He was born Aug. 4, 1899 in Gillett, a son of Harry and Maria Pettingill Corey. He was a member of the Troy United Methodist Church, the 40 and 8 and the Troy American Legion, where he was a past commander in 1960. Mr. Corey was a veteran of World War I. He graduated from Mansfield State College and did graduate work at Cornell University. Mr. Corey taught school at Pennington Seminary in Butler, N.J., and later taught in Savannah, Ga. He also taught school for many years in the East Troy Elementary School. He was a farmer in Fassett and a member of the I.O.O.F. in Gillett. He moved to Troy in 1939 and was a member of the Troy Grange No. 182, the Retired Teachers Association, a past member of the Troy Area School Board and had the National Grange Insurance Agency for the past 16 years. He was also a member of the Troy Ambulance association. His wife, Marie, preceded him in death on May 7, 1975. Mr. Corey is survived by daughters, Mrs. Leslie (Sandra) Schell of Susquehanna, Mrs. Arthur (Patricia) Shoemaker of Elmira, Mrs. Philip (Barbara) Lockwood of Dallas, Texas; sons, Harry B. Corey Jr. of Columbia Cross Roads RD 2 and George LaRue Corey of Troy RD 3; four sisters, Mrs. DeEtta Judson of Columbia Cross Roads, Mrs. Sarah Esch of Bentley Creek, Mrs. Leola Henry of Alamosa, Colo. and Mrs.Leora Newman of Fort Myers, Fla.; 14 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. The funeral will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. form the Vickery funeral Home, Troy, with full military rites. The Rev. Roger Q. Burtner will officiate. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Troy.
