At Windham, Greene County, N. Y., on Sunday, Dec. 14th, Capt. Eli P. Robinson, in the 72d year of his age. The deceased was one of the earliest settlers of the Town of Windham, where he lived greatly respected for nearly half a century. His military title was acquired by active service on the northern frontier, at the head of a company of volunteers during nearly the whole of the War of 1812 - 14. He was a direct descendant of Rev. John Robinson, pastor of the church at Leyden, from which the Plymouth colony sprung. He lived and died in the faith of his ancestors, an ardent patriot and an exemplary Christian.

Eli was the father of Lucius Robinson, governor of New York State from 1877 - 1880.
