Bruce Alan Blakley, 52, died on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, at the OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. His service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2011, at Strode Funeral Home in Stillwater, Okla., with Pastor Larry Eslinger officiating. Interment will be at the Fairlawn-New Zion Cemetery in Cushing, Okla. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Bruce was born to Thomas Eugene and Sandra Ann (Thompson) Blakley on Sept. 9, 1957, in Cushing, Okla. He married Teresa Layn Blakley of Chickasha on Jan. 16, 1993, at Mehan Union Church. He graduated from Ripley High School in 1977, and attended OSU. Bruce was employed by REI in Stillwater, Okla. He and his wife enjoyed taking nature walks together on the land they shared. Together they raised cattle and horses. They both shared a love for each other, their land and animals. Bruce was an honest, hard working man. He loved the work he did collecting bulls. Bruce was a man who would lend an ear or a helping hand to anyone who asked or was in need. Bruce also loved the game of baseball, which he played in his younger days. He also enjoyed playing golf, camping, hunting, snow and water skiing, however he loved the farm the best of all. Bruce will always be remembered most for his sense of humor and ability to make any soul feel like they were the most special person on earth. He wished everyone a good morning daily. He was a good man, loved by many. He is preceded in death by his father, Thomas E. Blakley; Uncle, Harvey Thompson; grandparents, Lloyd and Mildred Thompson and William Blakley and Mabel Burns. Bruce will be loved by his wife and family for eternity.
