| Birth: | 1823 | | Death: | Apr. 4, 1876 |  Indian Mutiny Victoria Cross Medal Recipient. He served as a Private Lance Corporal in the 78th Regiment of Foot, Queen's Own Highlanders. On September 26, 1857, Private Hollowell was one of a party which was shut up and besieged by rebels in one of the houses at Lucknow, India. During the siege the house caught on fire, with and shots fired through the window. Private Hollowell throughout the day engaged the enemy and encouraged the other nine men to keep going until they were relieved. For valor in the face of the enemy, he was promoted Lance Corporal and awarded the Victoria Cross Medal in June 1858. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
