S/o William Lon Bodkin and Blanche M. Sheneman
Stanley was born in Ohio and lived with his parents in a small home in Toledo until 1942 when his mother had to be hospitalized. Then he was uprooted to live in McCoole, MD with his father and Grandmother, Dora Isabel Kiser Bodkin.
Graduated from Bruce High School in Westernport, MD
Graduated from Potomac State University in May 1954
Joined the US Army and attended Chemical School in Sept 1954
Married Ida Mae Weaver on Nov 26, 1954 and was transferred to Fairbanks Alaska in 1955.
Stan was discharged after his 3 years were up and moved back to McCoole and began building his home...literally one paycheck worth of lumber at a time, while working full time for Allegany Ballistic Laboratory as a Research Technician.
Retired from ABL on 1 Apr 1989.
Had to admit his wife to a nursing home in 1997 and remained so loyal that he visited her 3 times every day for 7 years! She preceded him in death in 2004 and in 2006 he was diagnosed as having lung cancer. He had surgery at WVU Hosp but had complications from the surgery. He died in the hospital on 3 May 2006. Tests show the diagnosis was wrong and he did not have cancer at all.
He was an amazing provider, husband and father!
