Opal Gertrude "Nanny" Marshall, beloved mother and grandmother, 79, of Marion, formerly of Tazewell, died peacefully at her home Feb. 1, 2003.

Born March 28, 1923 at Hiwassee, she was a daughter of the late James Robert and Mary Jane Graham Quesenberry.

She was a member of the Pisgah United Methodist Church in Tazewell.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin K. Marshall; four sisters, Bessie Hurst, Bertha Cole, Mary O'Dell, and Ollie McPeak; and three brothers, Kermit Quesenberry, Doug Quesenberry, and Charlie Quesenberry.

Survivors: daughters, Sandee Cook of Venetia, PA, Debbie Ferrell and husband, Benny, of Marion, Kathy Witt and husband, Kip, of Spring Lake, NC; sons, Reginald Marshall and wife, Connie, of Paris, TN, Wayne Marshall and wife, Fran, of Little Rock, AK; sister, Fannie McCambridge of Hiwassee; brother, Claude Quesenberry of Oak Hill, WV; 10 grandchildren; and 10 great grandchildren.

The funeral will be conducted Feb. 5 at 2 p.m. at Peery & St.Clair Funeral Home Chapel in Tazewell with the Rev. Jared Wood officiating.

Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens at Bluefield, VA.
