John Hoffman was born at Koerich, Luxumburg, Europe, January 29, 1854 and passed away at his home farm south of Fedora June 29, 1932. He came with his parents to this country in 1866 and settled in Jackson county, Iowa. When 24 years old he moved to LeMars, Iowa, and was married the first time. He moved to South Dakota in 1883 and took up a homestead where he resided until his death. Forty years ago his furst wife died and later he was married to Mrs. Victoria Jacquart.
Mr. Hoffman was one of the early settlers and went through all the hardships of pioneer days he worked hard and saved and enjoyed his last few years in retirement. Sixteen years ago he rented his land but still remained at the farm home.
Mr. Hoffman was liked by all who knew him, he had many friends, he he was a good neighbor and a kind husband and father, and was always ready to help the poor and needy.
He was severely injured by a horse crushing him Monday, April 11, 1932, from which he never recovered. He leaves to mourn his death, his wife, six daughters, two sons, and two step-daughters.
The funeral was held Saturday at Epiphany...
