Abraham Weinberg
Birth: 1897, Russia
Death: Sep. 9, 1935
Manhattan
New York County (Manhattan)
New York, USA

Oganized Crime Figure. He was one of the top members of the Dutch Schultz mob during Prohibition. He is suspected of taking part in the murders of Salvatore Maranzano, Jack "Legs" Diamond, and Vincent "Mad Dog" Coll. While Schultz was away fighting a government tax indictment, Weinberg allegedly stole some of his boss's rackets, turning them over to Lucky Luciano. Schultz was acquitted and came back to New York to discover that his right-hand man had betrayed him. Bo Weinberg was last seen on the night of September 9, 1935 in a midtown Manhattan nightclub. What exactly happened to him is uncertain, but popular myth holds that Dutch Schultz had Weinberg's feet fitted into a tub of cement and then dumped him into the East River while he was still alive. This scenario was reenacted in the 1991 film "Billy Bathgate", with Bruce Willis portraying Bo Weinberg. (bio by: Dennis Rice)
