"George, age about 32 years, died at the home of Mrs Matthew Jung in McHenry, as the result of a stroke. He had been recovering from pneumonia a month previous to his stroke. George was enlisted in the Army during World War I, serving at a military camp in the United States. Although he never served overseas, and was not a member of the American Legion, members of the McHenry American Legion Post were present at his services, as were ex-servicemen from the community. George was survived by his parents, brothers Joseph and Albert; one sister Cecilia Adams (Frank), step-sister Eleanor Hergott May, (Jacob) and two step-brothers, Arthur and William Hergott."
