Claude Eugene Compton, the adoptive son of Mr. And Mrs. A. P. Compton, died last Wednesday evening following an operation for appendicitis which was preformed Monday by Doctor Allison of Omaha. It was an acute case and his constitution was too delicate to withstand the shock.
The funeral was held at the Methodist Church Friday, Christmas Day, by Rev. J. W. Lewis and interment made in the Blair Cemetery.
Mr. And Mrs. Compton took the little fellow when he was about three days old and he seemed like their own child. There have no other children and all their loves and hopes are centered around little Claude. His comparably sudden death was a great blow to the foster parents. They will morn and miss him for many a day.
He was August 8, 1903 and therefore 11 years 4 months 15 days old, being the fifth grade at school.
Two brothers and two sisters were here to attend the funeral, Mrs. Victor Reynoldson, William and Lillie McNair of Albion, and Guy McNair of Fort Calhoun. Other members of the family are Clyde McNair of Sheridan, Wyoming, June of Spokane, Washington Betty of Loretto, Nebraska and Dale of Bartlett, Nebraska
