Obituary:

J.L. Wallace was born August 15th. 1842, died May 9th. 1908, age 65 years, 8 months 24 days. He made a profession of Christ in his thirtieth year, joined Laurel Bank Baptist Church. Lived a consistent christian life the rest of his days, and was always good to the sick and poor. He often expressed himself of being ready to go. He was kind and good to his family and was enabled to see all of his children come to Christ and become church members, and his daily prayer was that they might live consistent Christian lives. We feel assured our dear husband and father is safe with Jesus and loved ones gone on before. All was done for him that could be after he was taken sick. But Jesus said thou has done enough on earth come up higher and dwell with me. The funeral services was conducted by the Rev. James Osborne, pastor of Maryville circuit, after which he was laid away in Clover Hill graveyard
to await the resurrection.
