Hazleton Standard-Sentinel; Tuesday, June 7, 1927; page 15: "Michael Kolessar" Michael Kolessar, a well known resident of this city, died at the family home on East Diamond avenue, yesterday, following a long illness. Mr. Kolessar was born in Czecho-Slovakia, 67 years ago and immigrated to this country at the age of 24. He started work in the coal mines of this region, where he was employed until a few years ago, when he worked for the Taxpayers' Association. He was a member of St. John's Greek Catholic church, St. John's Society Branch No. 8, Ukrainian Society and the Congregational society.
He is survived by his wife and the following children: Mrs. John Lesko, Mrs. George Barkanich, Michael, John, George and Joe. One brother, John Kolessar of Freeland, also survives. A requiem high mass was celebrated in St. John's Greek Catholic Church at 9:30 a. m. Interment was made in St. John's Greek Catholic cemetery. - PA Death Certificate: son of John Kolessar and unknown mother, both born in Czecho Slovakia. He was a laborer on road.
