Richard Arthur Anderson, 80, of Crookston, MN, died early Friday morning, September 23, 2011, in the RiverView Hospital in Crookston, with his family at his side.

Richard was born in Crookston on August 11, 1931; one of five children of Arthur and Kathryn (Regan) Anderson. He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith and graduated from Cathedral High School. While playing for the school's hockey team, Richard was rated the best high school goalie in northern Minnesota in a 1949 coach's poll. He was united in marriage to LouAnn Marleau of Red Lake Falls on November 26, 1952. The couple first lived in Crookston before moving to East Grand Forks, MN. Richard studied accounting at Aaker Business College in Grand Forks and then worked for Schroeder Electric in East Grand Forks. They returned to Crookston where Richard was employed at the Northwest Regional Corrections Center until his retirement in 1996. In semi-retirement he worked for Greenview at the Fisher Landing site for five years. Throughout his life Richard was an avid fisherman and bowler, and enjoyed following his children's sports and watching sporting events. One of his very favorite pastimes was playing cards. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception parish and a longtime member and former secretary of Eagles Aerie #873. Richard will be very loving remembered and sadly missed by his beloved wife of fifty-eight years, LouAnn, and his six children, fifteen grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.

Richard leaves his wife, LouAnn; children: Debra Dubuque and her husband, John, of Crookston, MN, Scott Anderson and his wife, Julie, of Grand Rapids, MN, Richard Anderson of Minneapolis, MN, Peggy Swenson and her husband, Byron, of Crookston, Karen Keefe and her husband, Mark, of Eden Prairie, MN, and Marleau Anderson and his wife, Michele, of Brainerd, MN; and grandchildren: Amanda Allen, Matthew, Christopher and Hannah Anderson, Rachel, Abby, Luci and Kyle Swenson, Clinton and Kendall Keefe, Jake, Myriah, Kayla and Lillian Anderson, and Benjamin Eckert. Richard is also survived by his great-grandchildren: Morgan and Madison Hoiland, Ada Swenson, and Raenah, Cleo, Marleau and Connor Anderson; two sisters, Norma Misson and Kathryn Thompson, both of Fargo, ND; a brother, Harold Anderson and his wife, Bonnie, of Vergas, MN; and several nieces, nephews, and other family members. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ralph Anderson and his wife, Betty; and two brothers-in-law, Irwin Misson and Tom Thompson. May God bless Richard's memory.

Patrick Sullivan, presiding. Visitation will be at the Cathedral on Monday from 5-7:00pm, with a 7:00pm prayer service, and for one hour before the funeral Tuesday.
