When I think of William I remember him as a kind gentle childhood friend. I looked up to William, he was several years older than me but he took the time to be my friend.
It was the summer of 62 and we played in the creek catching tadpoles, climbing trees, tag, hide-and-seek and riding bikes. I remember the good times just like yesterday and the fun we had. William never had a little sister so maybe that is what I was to him. I wish this story had a happier ending but sadly it dosen't. One day while we were riding bikes William suggested we race, the first one to the next corner would be the winner. William never stopped when he reached the corner but went right out into the street, he was hit by a young boy traveling at a high rate of speed. William died instantly. I will never forget William his death made a big impact on my life. As a teenager I use to go and sit on his grave and talk to him until we moved far away. I now get to visit about once a year. Such a short sweet life he had. I noticed his father died in 1969 and rest's along side his son, I wonder if his mother & brother are still around. I'd like to show them this memorial to William and let them know I have never forgot.
William you were the sweetest kindest friend one could have and I am looking forward to one day seeing you again. Rest in Peace my Friend.
