Harry L Kramer, 74, of 1012 Ferry Street, former board of trade operator, at one time proprietor of the Mudlavia Springs hotel, and originator of a widely known proprietary medicine from which he made a fortune, died suddenly of a heart attack at 2;30 o'clock yesterday afternoon in the Lafayette branch of the automobile license department. Mr Kramer had previously, from time to time, suffered from periods of ill health, but they had not been considered serious and he remained active until his unexpected death yesterday. Born Aug 26, 1861, at Keokuk, Iowa, he was the son of Frederick and Rebecca Crawford Kramer and married Miss Anna S Moore in 1892. The couple lived at what is now Kramer, Indiana where Mr Kramer became owner of the Mudlavia Springs hotel, which connection he held until the structure burned down a number of years ago. About 35 years ago he invented the drug known as "Cascarets," selling his rights to the product for $1,800,000 to the Sterling Products Co., of Wheeling, W.V., 20 years ago. He had two sons, William and Robert. Two sisters: Agnes Schouch and Ella Smith. Two brothers: Frederick and Balser.
