James Samuel Mayo Sr., 69, of Marshall, Texas, died on Saturday, April 30, 2005 in Keithville, La.

Born July 12, 1935, in Waldo, he was the son of the late Jack Gambill Mayo and Mattie Frances Duncan Mayo. He was a retired heavy equipment operator, a mason and of Pentecostal faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Hillard, Curtis, and J.W. Mayo.

Mr. Mayo is survived by two sons, John S. Mayo Jr. of Shreveport, La and Jack S. Mayo of Indiana; two daughters, Glenda Jane Wright of Waskom, Texas, and Becky Ann Vowell of Shreveport; two sisters Dorothy Warren Stevens and Joyce Phelps, both of El Dorado; nine grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren and a special friend Shirley Galbraith Mayo.

Funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2005, in Young's Chapel with the Rev. William Dillon officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens under the direction of Young's Funeral Directors in El Dorado.

Visitation will be 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

The family will be at 518 Gould Field Rd in Smackover.
