US Congressman. Born in Vermilion, Ohio, he graduated from Ohio University, in 1931, was a publishing house representative at Vermilion, Ohio, (1932-39) and a member of the Ohio State Senate, (1937-40). In 1941, he was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-seventh Congress, serving until 1942, when he resigned to accept a commission as a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy, during World War II. After the war, he was a member of the public relations staff of Owens-Corning Fiberglas Corporation Toledo, Ohio, (1946-53) and was director of the Republican National Committee, (1953-54). In 1955, he was elected as a Republican to the Eighty-fourth, Eighty-fifth and Eighty-sixth Congresses, serving until 1961. Not a candidate for re-nomination, he worked as public relations consultant, retired and died at age 92 in Lorain, Ohio.
