Alda Frank Hawkins was the son of Frank J Hawkins & Jane Lake.
His father was the son of Julius Jay Hawkins & Sarah Bell (Davis) Hawkins. His mother was the daughter of Ebenezer Lamphere Lake & Betsey (Yaw) Lake.
Frank J Hawkins was moving his family from Michigan with the intention of settling in Kansas when Jane gave birth to Carrie (Alda's sister) in Clarksburg, Missouri on July 17, 1871 during their journey. After giving birth, Jane had misgivings about moving to Kansas. Thus Jane, three year old son Alda, and newborn baby Carrie went back to Michigan.
Note: The Lake family consisted of Ebenezer Lamphere Lake, his wife Betsy (Yaw) Lake, and their two daughters Emma Lake & Jane Lake. Emma had two young boys, and Jane had Alda & Carrie. Unfortunately, except for Ebenezer, Alda, and Carrie, they all died between 1870 and 1874:
Emma's first son:
born Aug 21 1870; died Oct 6 1870
Emma's second son (Philip L Feighener):
born May 187_; died Jan 26 1873
died Feb 21, 1873 in Odessa
died April 19, 1873 in Odessa
died August 21, 1874 in Odessa
After Jane died, Alda Frank and Carrie Jane were sent to Kansas to live with their Dad.
Currently, grave information for Betsy, Emma, Emma's children, and Jane is unknown. Most likely they are all buried around Odessa, Ionia County, Michigan.
Note also that Alda Frank Hawkins had a grandson who was his namesake: Alda Frank "Al" Hawkins. His grandson died in 2008 and is buried in the same cemetery.
