Anne (Adams) Zart, of Dallastown, formerly of Steelton, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, September 18, 2011. She was the wife of the late Harry C. Zart Sr.
Born on August 19, 1923, in Detroit, MI, she was the daughter of the late John and Emma (Reich) Adams.
Mrs. Zart graduated from Swatara Township High School and Lebanon Valley College in Annville. After graduating, she accepted a teaching position at Polk Township High School in Kresgeville.
She later returned to Dauphin County to accept a teaching position at her alma mater, Swatara Township High School. After several years, she began teaching at Steelton-Highspire High School from where she retired after 30 years of teaching.
In addition to her teaching, Mrs. Zart was a music director at Centeuary United Methodist Church in Steelton, where she and her late husband were members for more than 50 years. She was a member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Dallastown, the Dallastown Golden Agers, the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees and the Dauphin County Retired Teachers organization.
Mrs. Zart is survived by her son, Harry C. Zart Jr. and wife, Julie of Dallastown; three grandchildren; Michael Zart of York, Kelly Zart Smith and husband, Thomas of York, David Zart and wife, Jill of Dallastown; and seven great-grandchildren.
A service to celebrate the life of Mrs. Zart will be held, September 22, 2011, at 10:30 a.m., at Bethlehem United Methodist Church, Dallastown, with the Rev. Roger Mentzer and Rev. Dr. Carl Rife officiating. Burial will be in Churchville Cemetery, Oberlin.
