Armenian Army Major General. Born in Shabin-Karahisar, he became a renowned leader of the Armenian fedayee freedom groups in the early 1900s and was a leading figure in the Armenian resistance against Ottoman rule. He participated in the Balken Wars, 1912 to 1913 and the Bulgarian authorities honored him with the Cross of Bravery. During World War I, he was appointed as Brigadier General of the Armenian units of the Russian Army and participated in 20 different offensives. His military leadership was instrumental in the Caucasus Campaign and the Russian authorities decorated him six times for gallantry, also promoting him Major General in 1918. Till the end of the war, he was Governor of Administration for Westren Armenian and helped with his county‘s treaty at the Paris Peace Conference in 1919. After the war, amid political turmoil in Armenian, he relocated to America where he stayed until his death in Chico, California. (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
