North Bench--Again the Angel of Death visted our community and took this time our well beloved friend, Mrs. J.R. Rice. Mrs. Rice had been in poor health for two years, but last fall she regained her health to such an extent she was able to accompany her husband to Washington. After a three months' stay, she returned, somewhat improved, but soon the malady gripped her in its firm grasp and she passed peacefully away to the home of the blest at 4:30 p.m., June 17.
To know her was to love her and even little children knew Mrs. Rice as their friend. She was always ready and willing to help anyone and all her acquaintances will have cause to remember her by her many good deeds.
Mrs. Rice was born in Wisconsin, June 14, 1860, making her at the time of her death, 55 years and three days. She came with her family to Montana about ten years ago and was one of the pioneers of this locality. Another good mother has gone to her just rewards; another earthly home is broken, only to be more strongly united as time goes on. We extend our heart felt sympathy to the bereaved family.
Rev. B.F. Meredith of the Methodist church preached the sermon, which was very impressive. The floral offerings were beautiful and the large concourse of sorrowing friends that followed the remains to its final resting place shows in what high esteem she was held.
