Mrs. Hughes was a member of Bethany Free Will Baptist Church.
She retired from AFG Industries.
Her family said, "We are put on this earth to serve others; truly her life was expressed in that she died while serving others."
She was the widow of Billy E. Hughes, who died Feb. 27, 2003.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law: Lynda (Hughes) and Alan Dawson of Chuckey; one granddaughter: Lyndsay Dawson of Knoxville; one sister and brother-in-law: Joenia and David Frady of Kingsport; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Johnny and Jane Dickerson and Randy and Pauline Dickerson, all of Chuckey; one special nephew: Doug Dickerson of Chuckey; two special great-nephews: Haven Dickerson and Jamie Skeen, both of Chuckey; several other beloved nieces and nephews; a special friend: Barbara Clipse of Church Hill; and a special friend of the family: Jordan Mynatt of Knoxville.
She was a daughter of the late Earl and Clara Dickerson and was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Dickerson.
