Former Blair Girl Dies In Hospital In Sioux Falls Of Kidney Trouble
Mrs. L. L. Cramer of Viborg, S. D. passed away in a hospital in Sioux Falls, S. D. last Saturday evening between five and six o'clock of uremic poisoning following several operations for kidney trouble. Her body is to be brought here today and will be taken to the John Carter home awaiting funeral service which will be held at the Baptist Church at 2 o'clock tomorrow, Thursday afternoon, with burial at the Blair Cemetery.
Marion Carter was born at the old C. M. Carter farm northwest of Blair, February 2, 1889 so was just past 39 years of age. Her mother was Lizzie Stewart, a daughter of the lasted Jas. Stewart, a sister of Maude Stewart whose death occurred just three weeks after Marion's birth. She was taken by her aunt, Miss Dora Carter and raised to girlhood. She was educated in the city schools and was a member of the high school class in 1906 but never graduated. She took nurses training and was graduated from the General, now Lord Lister, Hospital in Omaha where she met her future husband, Dr. L. L. Cramer, who was an intern at the hospital while she was there. She was married to Dr. Cramer November 27, 1913 and they located at Viborg. They had no children of their own and five years ago they adopted a girl the age of three, Marilyn, who will be eight years old in July.
Beside the husband and Marilyn she is survived by one sister, Myrtle, Mrs. H. F. Fowler of Omaha; Ralph of Chicago; Claude of Centeralia, Wash.; another brother, Alfred, who gained quite a reputation as an engineer, died in New York City several years ago; also her step mother, Mrs. Minerva Carter; one half sister, Mrs. Orll Jones of Lincoln; three half brother, Jacob of Casper, Wyoming; Dudley of Bacone, Oklahoma and Douglas who lives with his mother in this city.
Mrs. Cramer was prominent in Eastern Star and Legion Auxiliary circles. She was Matron of the Eastern Star Chapter in Viborg and was state president of Auxiliary of South Dakota last year. She was also a Nation Committee Woman for South Dakota thus making her ranking Auxiliary officer in the state. The Auxiliary from Stanley E. Hain Post of the American Legion will hold their ritual services at the church following the regular services. Eastern Star will conduct the burial services at the cemetery
