U.S. Congressman. He graduated from Columbia College in 1903, from the Columbia Law School in 1906, was admitted to the bar and commenced to practice law in New York City. During World War I, he served in the Motor Transport Corps, U.S. Army. After the war, he was chairman of the Triborough Bridge Committee, (1918-21) and was elected as a Republican to the Sixty-seventh Congress, serving (1921-23). As a Congressman, he was influential in the passing of the first-ever anti-lynching legislation. After his term, he resumed the practice of law, represented the Ford Motor Company in a libel lawsuit in 1927 and was director United Airlines, (1934-61). (bio by: John "J-Cat" Griffith)
