Marischen, Sr. Mary Josephine C.C.V.I. (Florence Helen) passed into the arms of Our Lord Jesus Christ on Sunday, March 27, 2011. Born September 9, 1917, Sr. Mary Josephine spent 74 joyful years as a Sister of Charity of the Incarnate Word, teaching in Missouri, Illinois, Louisiana and Texas. For many years she taught and served in administration at Incarnate Word Academy in Normandy, Missouri, where she established life-long relationships with faculty, staff and students. Known for the rigor of her science and math classes, Sr. Mary Josephine received high recognition for her teaching. She loved her Congregation and its many missions, her "girls", traveling world-wide to shrines and the Holy Land, her infamous red scooter, the Cardinals and the Spurs, and her extended family, especially the children. She will be remembered for her strong faith and strong opinions, heavily laden rum cakes and teenage escapades. Sr. Mary Josephine was preceded in death by her father, Joseph Edward Marischen, her mother Mary (Mamie Schulte) Marischen, her sister Laurette M. Payne, brother Kenneth J. and Eleanor M. Marischen and brother Donald G. and Marie V. Marischen. She is survived by seven nephews and one niece: Kenneth (Michelle) Marischen (Eagle River, AZ), Joseph (Clarissa) Marischen (Austin, TX), Donald (Diana) Marischen (St. Peters, MO), James Marischen (Celina, TX), Thomas (Glenda) Marischen (Austin, TX), Robert (Michelle) Marischen (Wildwood, MO), John (Diane) Marischen (Florissant, MO) and Catherine (Robert) Korobey (St. Peters, MO). She was loved by 24 great-nieces and nephews, 21 great-greatnieces and nephews and many cousins. She will be remembered and greatly missed by her family, many friends and the members of her religious congregation.
