Funeral services for Kenneth Eddie Bell 53, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, 2011, at Martin L. King Church Of Christ with Evangelist Darryl B. Bowdre serving as presiding officiate, Minister Andre Thompson as assistant officiate, and Evangelist Valanderous Bell delivering the eulogy.
Burial will follow at Restlawn Cemetery with Capt. James Sanders, Lt. Antwone Young, Sgt. Harold McClure, Lt. Henry Turner, Cpl. Dennis Findley and Sgt. Victor Cosme of Sulphur Springs Police Department and Hopkins County Sheriff's Office serving as pallbearers.
There will be no formal visitation, but friends may visit the family at the home of Gwendolyn Bell, 224 W.A. St. in Sulphur Springs.
Mr. Bell will lie in state from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, 2011, at Mason & Mason Mortuary.
Kenneth Eddie Bell died Saturday, Sept. 10, at Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital in Houston.
He was born Feb. 19, 1958, in Sulphur Springs to Alvin Bell and Eddie Mae Hudson Bell. Both parents preceded him in death.
Kenneth Eddie Bell graduated from Sulphur Springs High School in 1977 and received his bachelor's degree from Texas A&M University-Commerce in 2003.
Mr. Bell was a former police officer for the cities of Sulphur Springs and Sugar Land. He also worked for KSST Radio Station and HEB Grocery.
Survivors include two sons, Bryan J. Bell and Kenneth Michael Bell; two sisters, Evelyn Bell Holeman and Gwendolyn Joyce Bell; three brothers, Calvin Bell, Richard Bell and Valanderous Bell; and a host of grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Mason & Mason Mortuary 200 Putman St., is in charge of arrangements.
