US Congressman. Born in Corinth, Vermont, he moved to Bath, New York, in 1822 and engaged in mercantile pursuits. He was town clerk (1825-30), town supervisor (1831-32), town postmaster, (1837-41) and treasurer of Steuben County, (1844-47). In 1851, he was elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-second Congress, serving until 1853. Not a candidate for renomination, he resumed mercantile pursuits in Bath, new York, until his death at age 73. In 1983, his home known as the Reuben Robie House was listed the National Rigister of Historical Places and Robie was named to the Steuben County Hall of Fame, in 2011.
