Elected to represent Tennessee's 5th and 6th Districts in the United States House of Representatives, serving from 1837 to 1843, and 1866 until his death in 1867. Also served as a Member of the Tennessee State House of Representatives in 1835, State Court Judge in 1847, and Governor of Tennessee from 1851 to 1853. (bio by: K)
