JOSEPH SHARP, 90, HAS PASSED AWAY
Blood Poisoning, Developing from Scratch, Fatal to Civil War Veteran
WILMORE, Nov. 14 - Joseph Sharp, aged 90, a veteran of the Civil War, died yesterday afternoon at his home at Pringle Hill, following an illness of five days of blood poisoning, which resulted from a small pin scratch on his arm.
Despite his age, Mr. Sharp had been enjoying excellent health until the time that he was stricken. He was born in Erie County and served as a private in Company B, One Hundred and Second Regiment, during the Civil War.
He and his widow, Mrs. Anna J. (Paul) Sharp, would have observed their 58th wedding anniversary on November 24. In addition to his widow, he is survived by these children: Allen A., of Meyersdale; Samuel, of Conemaugh; William, of Conemaugh; Mrs. Luella C. Pringle, of Cochranville; Oliver, of Wilkinsburg, and Ralph, at home.
He also leaves 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. The body has been prepared for burial by George Bros., of South Fork, and has been removed to the Sharp home at Pringle Hill, where funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock by the Rev. F.S. Schultz, pastor of the Summerhill Lutheran Church. Interment will be in the Pringle Hill United Brethren Cemetery.
