Hermine Whitney of the Leisuretowne section of Southampton died Wednesday at her home. She was 86.

Mrs. Whitney was born in Germany. She was active in many crafts, but especially spinning, and needlepoint and her work was definitely show quality.

Mrs. Whitney was the wife of the late Leslie Whitney, and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Lucia Boyd; and two grandchildren, Barbara and Buddy. She also was preceded in death by her longtime companion, Robert Sturm.

She is survived by two children and their spouses, John Whitney and his wife, Jeanne, of Mayo, Fla., Rosemarie Gonnelli and her husband, Robert, of Lumberton; nine grandchildren, John Paul, Casey, Brad, Stephen, Sarah, Kevin, Rebecca, Randi and Robert; and by eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Saturday at the Perinchief Chapels, 438 High Street, Mount Holly. Interment was in the Evergreen Cemetery, Lumberton.
