Mrs. Mary Barker Gottschall, 3105 North Second street, daughter of the founder and first president of Milligan College, near Johnson City, Tenn., died Saturday afternoon at her home here. She was 79 years old.
Mrs. Gottschal was born February 14, 1856, on an eastern Tennessee plantation owned by her father, the Rev. Wilson Barker, Milligan College founder. She lived most of her life in Harrisburg, where she was active in religious work. For many years she was a teacher of the Woman's Bible Class of the Market Square Presbyterian church.
Surviving are a daughter, Miss M. Glenn Gottschall, of Harrisburg; three sons, Paul B. Gottschall, also of this city and Dr. Amos W. Gottschall, of Embreeville, and Alvin M. Gottschall, of New Orleans; a brother, Dr. William Barker, of Bristol, Tenn,, and five grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 o'clock tomorrow afterenoon at the home. The Rev. Henry Little, of the Market Square Presbyterian Church, will oficiate. Burial will be in the Paxtang Cemetery.
