Funeral services for John E. Wessels were held Oct. 23 at Columbus-Day Funeral Home. Interment was at Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery.
Mr. Wessels passed away Oct. 21 at Sweetbriar Nursing Home, Brennam, at the age of 73. He was a retired mechanic for Boyce-Fore Cheverolet-Pontiac, Inc.
He was born April 1, 1907 at West Point, Texas to Adolph Wessels and Hilda (Ullmann) Wessels. He had been a resident of Columbus since 1948 where he was a member of the Lutheran church.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Wessels of Columbus, Marilyn Wessels of Austin: two sons, Johnnie Wessels of Houston and Galen Wessels of California; two brothers, George Wessels and Erwin Wessels, both of Houston, and mother, Mrs. Hilma Wessels of Houston.
