Elvira Walker, 90 of Lidgerwood, ND passed away Thursday, September 8, 2011 at Eventide Lutheran Home, Moorhead, MN. Funeral service will be Monday, September 12, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Lidgerwood, ND with Pastor Joseph Crosswhite officiating and burial will be at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, rural Lidgerwood. Visitation will be Sunday, September 11 from 2:00pm until 4:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m. all at the Frank Family Funeral Home, Lidgerwood, ND. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Pallbearers are: her grandchildren: Shane Lueck, John Kackman, Scott Kackman, Tyler DeVries, Kathi Jo Carsrud, Kelle Lueck & Amber DeVries. Honorary pallbearers are: All her friends & Adam Walker, Bryan Walker, Ross Paczkowski & Paul Paczkowski. Special music by Curt Brownlee.
Elvira Kackman Walker was born in Duerr Township, rural Lidgerwood, ND on May 16, 1920, the daughter of Hugo & Emma (Tiegs) Lentz. She was baptized on June 6, 1920 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Lidgerwood, ND and confirmed on March 24, 1933 by Pastor Cordts at St. John's Belford Church, rural Hankinson, ND. She attended Duerr #5 Country School. Elvira was a Sunday School Teacher and an organist at Immanuel Lutheran Church for many years and was also L.W.M.L. President. She also worked at Lidgerwood Public School for 15 years. On June 27, 1940 she was united in marriage to Wilbur Kackman at Immanuel Lutheran Church, rural Lidgerwood by Pastor Cloeter. After their marriage they lived & farmed near Hankinson, Claire City, SD & Lidgerwood for 25 years. In 1964 they moved into Lidgerwood. Wilbur passed away on April 14, 1971. On December 20, 1980 she was united in marriage to Richard Walker at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, Lidgerwood. They made their home in Lidgerwood and enjoyed winter months in Arizona. Richard passed away on August 12, 1986. Elvira continued to live in Lidgerwood.
Elvira lived all her life in Lidgerwood. She was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, LWML, Duerr Homemakers & the Lidgerwood Women's Club.
She is survived by her daughters: Valdean (Dennis) Lueck, Nisswa, MN and Julie (John) DeVries, Underwood, MN; daughter-in-law: Betty Kackman, Nisswa, MN; brothers: Iver (Elizabeth) Lentz, Lidgerwood, ND & Gary (Patty) Lentz, Moorhead, MN; sisters: Lucinda Funfar, Fargo, ND, Darlene (Red) Best, Minnetonka, MN & Karen Swinjakow, Hopkins, MN; two step children: Paul (Vicky) Walker, Lansings, KS & Mary (Lyle) Paczkowski, Leawood, KS; Seven grandchildren , seven great grandchildren, four step grandchildren & many nieces & nephews.
Alvira was preceded in death by her parents: Hugo & Emma Lentz; husbands: Wibur Kackman & Richard Walker; son: Curtis; brother: Marvin; sister at infancy: Ardell and grandson: Troy Lueck.
