Joann Beemblossom

SHOALS -- Joann Beemblossom, 68, Shoals, died at 10:20 a.m. Tuesday at Welborn Baptist Hospital in Evansville, after a lengthy illness.
Born in Mount Pleasant, Iowa, she was the daughter of William and Cecilia (Cornick) Scully. She married Dr. Donald M. Beemblossom Sr. in 1948 and he survives.
She was a homemaker and member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Shoals, St. Mary's Altar Society and the American Association of Retired Persons.
Surviving with her husband are two daughters: Nancy J. Wildman of Savanna, Ill., and Janice L. Furbee of Evansville; two sons: Donald M. Beemblossom Jr. of Bedford and Bruce A. Beemblossom of Washington; three sisters: Virginia Peek and Teresa Grotee, both of California, and Rosemary Elliott of Washington, Iowa; four brothers: William Scully, Theodore Scully and John Scully, all of Iowa and Daniel Scully of Nebraska; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Shoals with Monsignor Carl Shelter officiating. Another funeral mass will be held at 2:30 p.m. (Iowa time) Friday at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa. Burial will be in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church Cemetery.
Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. today at St. Mary's Hall (next to St. Mary's Church) in Shoals. There will be a rosary service at 6 p.m. today at St. Mary's Hall. Calling hours will be from noon until 2 p.m. (Iowa time) Friday at Beatty Funeral Home, Mt. Pleasant Iowa.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Altar Society, Shoals.
