Also served as Mayor of Morgantown, West Virginia, from 1866 to 1869, Presidential Elector from West Virginia in 1868, Delegate to the West Virginia State Constitutional Convention in 1871, Member of the West Virginia State House of Delegates from 1879 to 1883, and District Judge from 1888 until his death in 1900.
