On May 5, 1866 Irene was united in marriage to Lester A. Knight in Putnam County, Missouri. Lester was born Nov. 7, 1841, in McDonough Co., Ill. He died July 3, 1928 at the Soldier's Home, Los Angeles, California, aged 86 years, 7 months and 26 days, and was buried besides the remains of his second wife, Sarah A. Woolhiser Knight, in the Oakdale Cemetery, Azusa, Ca. Their three children were:
