He won the Argentine Championship in 1963. He was best remembered for his fights against fellow Argentinian Oscar Bonavena and American George Foreman. Ranking 9th place in the world, he loss to Foreman on their first match at Madison Square Gardens on February 16, 1970 and again on their rematch on May 10, 1971. His last fight was November 17, 1973 was against Ron Lyle in Germany and considered a draw. Upon retiring he held a record of nine losses, nine draws, and 98 wins.
