I received information from my Aunt Alice (Riese) Wolfe years ago, and the documentation concerning Carl "August" Neeck states:
Father was born October 5, 1828 in Marienwald in the Newark, in Pommer, Germany. In the year 1847, he came to the province of Pommer, in the neighborhood of Stetin. Then he became a soldier for three years.

In the fall of 1851, he came home to Saber, town in Pyrit. In March, 1852 he married Maria Berndt. They had eight children born to them. Two died in infancy. In November, 1874 his wife died.

In October, 1875 he married again to Wilhelmina Gloede. Two children were born. John and Emilie, although Emilie died the same day she was born. In 1885 they came to America. He was a stone mason and brick layer.

Ernestine Neeck Riese was born in Saber, Germany on March 1, 1853. She married August Riese in 1872. About one year later, they gave way to the strong appeal of free America. They came to Green County and located on a farm in Decatur township. August died January 1, 1919. They had nine children, two of them died in infancy. Augusta preceeded her mother in death at the age of 19. The rest of August and Ernestine's children were: William, August Jr., Reinhold, Mary, Herman, and Ida.

Ernestine's three sisters were: Mrs. August (Augusta) Siedschlag, Mrs. Herman (Minnie) Pinnow, and Mrs. Frank (Maria) Koepp.
Ernestine's three brothers were: Herman Neeck, Reinhold (John), and Frank (deceased).
I never knew hime by the name Reinhold. It was always John. Minnie always claimed him as a brother, not a half brother.
